Abavo

Abavo is a prominent town and kingdom in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria. It is one of the key communities of the Ika people, known for its rich history, traditions, and cultural heritage. Hrm King Gino Uche Irenuma 11 is the traditional ruler of Abavo.

The people of Abavo, like other Ika communities, speak the Ika language, which shares some linguistic similarities with neighbouring groups in Delta and Edo states but retains its own unique dialect and customs.

Abavo is an agrarian community, and its people are known for farming, especially in cassava, yam, and palm oil production. The town celebrates various festivals and ceremonies that highlight its cultural values, including traditional dances, communal gatherings, and rites that strengthen community bonds.
