A middle aged young man identified as Mr. Ike Peter Ifeanyi was shot dead by unidentified persons on Sunday February 9, 2025, at Idumu Ile Quarters, Umunede in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State.

The deceased hailed from Idumu Obi Quarters in Akumazi Kingdom, but lived in Idumu Ile Quarters in Umunede, both towns in Ika North East Local Government Area.

The sad incident which had spread round the town is believed to have occurred between 8pm and 9pm, as some residents in Idumu Ile Quarters disclosed that they heard the gunshots at about the said time. Though no one could ascertain or give clear account of what truly transpired or know who killed late Mr. Ike Peter Ifeanyi, but many believed that the evil was perpetuated by kidnappers.

The news of the young man’s death had spread round the town and nearby communities like wide fire with many asking when such unfortunate incident would end in Ika land.

It was gathered that late Mr. Ike Peter Ifeanyi was a good hunter and member of a particular local security group in the town. Information gathered said the deceased was shot severally on the chest by the unknown gunmen, and it is said that he was on his security uniform and with his gun when the miscreants attacked and shot him multiple times.

When Ika Weekly Newspaper reporter visited the bereaved family at Idumu Ile Quarters, the wife of the deceased who never wanted her name on print said she had no idea what actually transpired on that fateful day.
